# Privacy Policy for CineMood: Netflix Smart Recommender > Last updated: September 20, 2026 CineMood: Netflix Smart Recommender ("CineMood", "we", "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled when you use the CineMood Chrome extension. ## 1. Summary CineMood is a client-side browser extension designed to provide personalized Netflix recommendations. **We do not run developer servers, do not collect personal analytics, and do not track or sell your browsing data.** ## 2. What Data Is Handled - **User Preferences**: Your chosen moods, content filters, watchlist items, and like/dislike ratings. - **Viewing History**: When you use the history sync feature, CineMood reads your Netflix viewing activity (`/viewingactivity`) locally in your browser strictly to recommend unwatched titles and compute personalized match scores. - **AI API Keys (Optional)**: If you configure natural language recommendations with OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Google Gemini, your API keys are stored locally in your browser's `chrome.storage.local`. ## 3. How Data Is Stored All preferences, watch history caches, and API keys are stored **100% locally on your device** using Chrome's extension storage (`chrome.storage.local`) and browser local storage. Data is never transmitted to any third-party database or external developer server. ## 4. Third-Party Services If (and only if) you choose to use the AI natural language feature: - **OpenAI**: When using ChatGPT, your natural language prompt and catalog summaries are sent directly to OpenAI's Chat Completions API (`https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions`) using your own API key. [OpenAI Privacy Policy](https://openai.com/privacy) - **Google Generative AI**: When using Gemini, your prompt and catalog summaries are sent directly to Google's Generative Language API (`https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com`) using your own API key. [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) ## 5. User Control & Data Deletion You have complete control over your data at all times: - You can clear your watch history cache, reset your dislikes, and delete saved API keys at any time via the in-app **Settings** modal. - Uninstalling the extension from Chrome immediately purges all locally stored preferences and data. ## 6.
